What We Do
With the Rotary motto "service above self" in mind, San Diego Rotaract is committed to serving both our local and global community. The past couple of years, our focus has been fundraising for a house build in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. See the events tab for more information.
Outside of our house build, SDR has various other reoccurring service projects and ad hoc events. We serve meals to the homeless with Urban Angles once a month. We also regularly read books to children through Traveling Stories. We’ve fought hunger in San Diego by sorting and preparing food for delivery with Feeding San Diego, and much more!
We recently instituted an International Service position and committee and look forward to engaging with service projects around the globe.
San Diego Rotaract provides young professionals with the tools to grow as leaders in their profession. Professional development is fostered through monthly speakers, peer focus groups, and mentorship.
Our monthly business meetings host speakers who discuss a wide range of topics, such as developing a networking strategy, fostering communication skills, and turning passions into careers.
SDR offers friendship with other young professionals to discuss similar goals or setbacks you're facing at work. Although we may not be the decision makers in our career fields yet, it's vital to establish a foundation of connections with tomorrow's leaders today.
A true highlight of joining SDR is the unequivocal mentorship provided through the Rotary family. San Diego Rotarians are some of the top industry leaders and community decision makers. Ask any of the board members for more information.
We have fun! Our Rotaract club introduces like minded people and helps them create lasting friendships. We have scheduled fellowship events that include hiking, exploring, barbecues, and happy hour!
Recently, we launched our Buddy Program. This is a voluntary program where participants are matched with a "buddy" at the beginning of each month. The buddies are then responsible for arranging an outing together. Popular choices include coffee dates, happy hour, dinner, or a walk around Balboa Park.
